Lifting equipment inspections

“In Italy, the employer must carry out a Supplementary Inspection (or structural inspections) on lifting equipment before it reaches 20 years of service to verify its state of preservation.

These inspections, performed by qualified technicians, are subsequently evaluated in a report by an expert engineer who determines and estimates the residual life of the equipment until the next inspection, establishing the date of the next check.

Generally, during the periodic inspection, the inspector requests the execution of the structural verification.

This inspection can also be carried out at the discretion of the equipment owner to verify its state of preservation, independently of the national reference regulations.”
